“It plays a crucial role in providing practical support, aiming to address the critical issue of increased suicide rates and mortality within the autistic community. It also directly addresses the growing need for support for the families and communities of autistic individuals,” he said. “Often the family and friends need support that just isn’t there for them once their autistic loved one ‘ages out’ of the ages 2-18 support system,”

They seek to combat the epidemic level mortality and suicide rates in the autistic community through education and outreach. They put on public discussions on autism and neurodiversity to businesses, schools, and governments, as well as provide micro-accommodation consulting, which helps organizations identify minor system changes that improve conditions in the workplace.

This gap in ensuring accountability not only hinders the effective allocation of resources but also clouds our understanding of where interventions are most needed, or how successful they have been.

Autism, a spectrum of neurodevelopmental conditions, is frequently misunderstood as a disorder confined to childhood. Yet many adults navigate life with undiagnosed autism, facing unique challenges unnoticed by society at large.

When I returned to the United States, I found that my spark for teaching could not be met by standardized tests and curricular restrictions. I wanted to teach students about the joys of those things that make us expressly human.”
